Asset Investment Planning - SA Department of Education

Katie worked with the team at the Department of Education over a three-year period designing tools and frameworks to strategically assess asset investment at a macro-level.


Her work considered current school availability across the state and compared this to likely future demand. Katie was able to create tools to consider funding allocations for maintenance and renewal works to assess which schools would most benefit from upgrades and other maintenance spend. 


Katie was engaged heavily to create evidence-based funding requests for existing schools. She was also called upon to provide input to business cases for new schools, particularly in the outer northern and southern suburbs of Greater Adelaide.

Rail Asset Condition Assessment Project - Victorian Department of Transport

Katie was the State’s Delivery Lead for the Asset Condition Assessment Project. She was the main point of contact for this multi-phase, multi-million-dollar condition assessment program. 


She actively managed the project consortia (KPMG, Mott MacDonald, pitt&sherry and Ricardo Rail) and internal and external stakeholders. Phase 1 of the project was delivered on time and on budget.


The strategic planning of future phases and dissemination of results to stakeholders across the transport agencies was a key function of this role.

Katie has since been involved in Phase 2 of this project on the consultant team.

MR4 Refranchising Technical Advisor - Victorian Department of Transport

This project involved providing specialist advice on asset management strategy frameworks and responsibilities between contractual and State parties.

Katie assisted with the negotiations with the Franchisees on behalf of the State for the re-franchising of the Melbourne rail and tram network.


Her advice included guidance on the infrastructure lease, project agreements and telecommunication services agreements.

​

She also assisted with benchmarking and the provision of technical and general advice on the structure, performance, condition, lifecycle and risks of the current infrastructure assets.

Business Case Development - Various Clients

Katie was appointed to prepare a business case for the Flinders Street Station Eastern Concourse Upgrade. She acted as a bridge between a variety of different stakeholders including to seek funding from the State Government and see the project come to fruition.

​

Katie was asked to prepare a business case a series of network, safety and security initiatives across the Victorian train and tram networks.  This involved a series of multi-criteria assessment workshops with stakeholders to package the initiatives into various project options.

​

Katie prepared a business case for the acquisition of the new range of firefighting vehicles for the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning. This engagement involved rigorous engagement with stakeholders across DELWP to provide a robust justification for the funding and a robust explanation of the proposed solution.
